Education Initiatives

Partnering the nation’s progress through bolstering public education

As part of our CSR initiative to partner nation’s progress, we support Mantra (Mantra4Change) to enhance teaching practices, student engagement, and leadership in India’s public education system. Below is the impact of these efforts across Bihar, Karnataka, and Odisha.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) in Bihar

We supported PBL implementation in middle schools by aiding teacher training, lesson plan development, and parental involvement to improve learning outcomes in grades 6-8. Focusing on Science and Mathematics, this initiative spans all 38 districts, impacting 28,000 schools and over 40 lakh children. All 12,500 designated Science and Mathematics teachers received PBL training via District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs).

Block-level orientations occurred in all 38 districts, with 36 hosting PBL exhibitions using government funds. By year-end, awareness reached 100%, and over 90% of teachers adopted PBL methods. Nearly all surveyed teachers (98% overall, 100% in Lakhisarai) noted increased student participation.

School Transformation and Empowerment Program (STEP) in Karnataka

In Karnataka, we back the STEP initiative with DSERT and SSK to strengthen education leadership and student outcomes in grades 1-7. It equips district, block, and cluster leaders to design and evaluate education initiatives, builds district-level capacity with subject experts, and fosters student leadership through activities like assemblies.

Parental engagement is enhanced via regular meetings. Reaching 44,000 schools across 34 districts, STEP benefits 3.5 million students, supports 150,000 teachers, and strengthens over 5,000 education officials, creating a sustainable learning ecosystem.

Promoting hands-on learning and critical thinking in Odisha

In Odisha, we support innovative programmes like PBL, Building as Learning Aid (BaLA), and Ecology Education. Over 18 months, Mantra4Change’s Project Management Unit has enhanced learning in 1,736 schools and over 5,000 hostels. For 2024-25, three of ten planned programmes were piloted:
  • PBL reached 80 schools across four districts, engaging 239 teachers and 11,200 students in grades 7-8, integrating Odia Literacy and Social Science. It will scale to 1,230 schools in 2025-26.

  • BaLA (Phase 1) transformed 51 schools in Rayagada, training teachers for FLN activities. Phase 2 will cover 55 more schools, expanding to 337 schools across four districts.

  • Ecology Education piloted in 18 schools across four districts for grades 6-10, focusing on biodiversity and waste management, aims to reach 1,250 schools.

Through these efforts, we at Profectus Capital endeavour to improve education quality and create better learning experiences for students.
